FSD Mandatory Shut Down through April 17

Sunday, March 15, 2020, at 1:30 p.m. Governor Asa Hutchinson closed all schools in the State of Arkansas beginning Tuesday, with the option to be closed Monday as well.  Flippin School District sent home AMI packets with students Friday so we feel, given the circumstances, it is best for the safety of the students in our District to close Monday.  Therefore, we will be closed Monday through Friday this week and using AMI packets 2-6.  AMI packets are available on line at this link or you may stop by the building principals office during normal school hours and pick one up.  Next week is spring break.  School will continue to be closed at the Governor's direction through April 17, 2020.

The administrative team will use Monday, March 16 to meet and finalize a plan for cleaning/disinfecting the school and busses during the time we are out.  We will also discuss options for continuing back pack programs and/or breakfast and lunch programs.  Prom (scheduled for this Friday, the 17th) must be postponed to a later date given the mandatory shutdown.  All plans at this point are fluid and will change with additional information.  There are a lot of opinions out there about the best way to handle this situation.  However, things like social distancing, washing hands, covering coughs, self-quarantining when you are sick, and disinfecting surfaces in your home are common suggestions and appear to be best practice.

My heart aches for those that are sick, hungry, missing their senior year activities, struggling to find daycare, forced to miss work and struggling financially because of this pandemic.  You are in my daily thoughts and prayers.  If there is something that the school might be able to help with let us know and we will see what we can do to help.
